The breakfast of…science

This morning breakfast was at our hotel again which had a menu to order off of and a continental breakfast to go with it. Today I found cute little mayonnaise and ketchups in tiny little glass jars. Near them I spied a little container of Marmite. I was so excited. I have heard of it before but never wanted to buy a whole container just to taste it. What an opportunity.

When I sat down with it, my hubby was not at all interested. I told him we needed to try it once at least, for science of course. I opened the tiny packet and was surprised that color was dark brown. I’m glad I didn’t smell it first. I grabbed a piece of plain bagel from my husband’s plate and smeared a thin layer on. It was slightly like the consistency of molasses just not as runny. I split it into two and put a piece in my mouth. Immediate regret. Hubby got it in his mouth and immediately took it out. I am so stubborn that I still felt the need to have the full effect so I chewed and ate it. The flavor was so salty and pungent. As if I had put a beef bouillon cube on my tongue and let it sit. So never again. I’m not sure how people are supposed to eat this but if they’re spreading it on toast instead of peanut butter, that seems wrong. If you know how it’s meant to be eaten other than that let me know. Gave me chills. After that I had an Americano and poached eggs on avocado toast, lovely.
